Lower Eyelid Lift with Midface Lift

One of the most commonly requested rejuvenation procedures.

A targeted rejuvenation

There are a variety of reasons individuals seek rejuvenation of the lower lids and cheeks. Problems here are one of the most common reasons patients seek Dr. Steffen’s assistance.

Technique

During a lower blepharoplasty, a stealth incision is made on or within the lower eyelid. Through this minimally invasive approach, the transition between the lower eye and the cheek can be smoothed and contoured. Small grafts are used to erase dark circles under the eyes as well as the “tear trough deformity.”

The eyelid is repositioned to its pleasing natural location and the cheek is lifted to bring back the natural fullness of the upper cheek. Patients look smoother, fuller, and more alert — younger, and more importantly, looking their best.

Coverage

Frequently Asked

Common questions about lower eyelid lift with midface lift.

Will my lower blepharoplasty incision be visible? +

Dr. Steffen uses a stealth incision placed on or within the lower eyelid. Externally the result is smooth and natural, with no visible scar in typical viewing.

Can a lower blepharoplasty erase dark circles under my eyes? +

In most cases yes. Small fat grafts are used to smooth the transition between the lower lid and cheek, erasing the "tear trough deformity" that causes the appearance of dark circles and hollows.

How long is recovery from a lower eyelid lift? +

Most patients take one to two weeks off social activity. Bruising and swelling resolve over two to three weeks, with continued refinement over several months.

Can a lower eyelid lift be combined with other procedures? +

Yes. It is often combined with an upper blepharoplasty, brow lift, facelift, or fat grafting for a comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Many patients have both lids treated together.

Is lower blepharoplasty covered by insurance? +

Lower eyelid lift is considered cosmetic and is not covered by insurance.
